I need that start-up money and a solid team/industry connect. No parole, no probation, no open cases here nigga...I just been home for a year and this is the first real reach out shit i'm doing. I don't want to do shows without a strong brand promotion in place, and I think it would be good to get you in on the project from the jump.

ART ENSEMBLE OF CHICAGO - PEOPLE IN SORROW
Like the other Art Ensemble record on Nessa, Les Stances A Sophie, this one was recorded in France on the beautiful July 7, 1969 during one of the most fruitful periods for the group.
Unlike that one, though, this one is a very different recording musically.
The LP features one long track, the title cut, and the music is very spare, with lots of nice isolated bass work, horn solos, and percussion.
The group here is a quartet

The record features some of the most perfectly realized moments the band ever cut to wax,

The album features one long piece -- "Reese & The Smooth Ones" -- and it's a stunning array of spontanteous instrumentation, with a jagged sound that never stops reinventing itself!
